I-CAN’s affiliate organization, Crime Victims Action Alliance (CVAA), has been active in legislative advocacy since 1992. CVAA was created to be a voice for victims, to educate members of the legislature and the community about the effects of crime on victims, and to help improve rights and services for victims of violent crimes.
CVAA is active in educating government agencies on how their actions and policies may affect victims of crime. CVAA encourages collaboration between victim assistance and victims’ rights organizations, law enforcement and state government, with the ultimate goal being an environment where victims are cared for and treated with respect and dignity; and provided the best, most comprehensive services available.
